Winter is my favourite season of the year. It may be a cold one, but I love the cosiness it brings. Drinking hot chocolate milk by the fire and putting candles everywhere in your house. Besides all the homey vibes I love the winter wardrobe, maybe even a little more than the summer wardrobe. During winter you can add, literally, so much more to your outfit.
You all know that I love to layer my outfits, but one of my favourite things to wear when it’s cold are sweaters. And they come in all shapes, sizes, prints, colours and materials. In this blog post, I’ll give you my top 8. The sweaters you need this winter.
1. The High Neck
The Hight neck sweaters are a staple in your winter wardrobe. You need to have at least a few of these in your closet. They are perfect for the colder winter days because they will keep you warm. I also think they’re sexy, feminine and chic. You can play with the collar and layers it with a longer blouse or tee. You can choose to get a high neck sweater with a tight or loose collar. 2. The Cable Knit
The cable knit is a classic. These are also a staple of your winter wardrobe. I’m not sure why, but they always give me the white winter and hot choco vibe. Cabled sweaters are one of the things that immediately pop into my head when I think about winter. What I love about these sweaters is that they add a lot more texture and depth to your outfit. They also have a classic and chic appearance. I like to wear them with a blouse underneath. I then put the collar of the blouse on top of the collar of the sweater. 3. The Colourful
The colourful sweaters are the ones that lay a little bit out of my comfort zone, but you need those too. They are there to brighten your winter wardrobe. You need at least one, colourful sweater in your closet. If you’re like me, someone who wears basic and neutral colours most of the time, one bright colour sweater is more than enough. When you are going to buy one, pick out a colour that you like and one you can style with other pieces out of your wardrobe. Think about a bright pink roll neck sweater with leather leggings! 4. The Winter White
This is another favourite of mine. I love beautiful white knit sweaters. They’re chic, classic and neutral. You can wear them with almost everything. It’s a staple in your winter wardrobe. I have three different white sweaters in mine, but I’m already looking for another one. They can make an outfit look clean, balanced and put together. 5. The Neon
We all know that neon is a big thing this season. It’s maybe one of the biggest trends last year and also this year. You can buy almost everything fashion related in different neon colours. When I was thinking about which sweaters were making my top eight, neon sweaters couldn’t be left out. My favourite neon colours are green/yellow and pink. I linked some neon diamonds down below.
6. The Oversized
Well hello, all-time favourite. Oversized sweaters are THE winter sweaters. They keep you warm, look stunning and give you a real winter feeling. I’m obsessed with big, chunky, oversized sweaters. You can wear them in many ways. You can belt them, knot them or tug them in your jeans, skirt etc. If you have a super oversized one you can even wear it as a dress. 7. The Faux Fur
This category may be the softest and comfiest one. Faux fur sweaters are not just soft and cute but, they also can add a lot to an outfit. Your outfit gets more texture and depth when you’re wearing a sweater made out of faux fur. I have two in my wardrobe and I’m obsessed. I need to warn you though when you got a faux fur sweater you want to touch it all day and everyone around you want to hug you. They are amazing and a must-have for this season. 8. The Sweater Dress
The sweater dress is the most versatile sweater in my wardrobe. You can be creative with this one. The sweater dress is also the most feminine one. I feel more feminine when I wear a dress or heels. A sweater dress is a perfect combination between femininity and comfy clothing. I mean a sweater and a dress what’s not to like? You can wear this sweater in so many ways. Like the oversized sweater, you can belt it or knot it. You can also wear it as an oversized sweater and tug it in.
A sweater dress fits almost every style. How you put your outfit together makes your style your own. I love to wear sweater dresses with sneakers or over knee boots. Put on a gorgeous jacket or belt it with a statement piece and you’re ready to go. You can find a few of my favourites down below.
